General Info
|
All of our puppies are raised in our home where we can keep a constant eye on them. We have in our home what we call the "puppy room." The puppies are born and raised there until they are ready to go to their new homes. I actually spend much of my time helping with the delivery of the puppies, if need be, and I have spent many long hours in the puppy room with my new moms just to make sure things go smoothly. To maximize their social learning time with us, our puppies are raised with a lot of exposure to a variety of sounds, such as the vacuum, TV, radio, our voices, etc. Our puppies are well socialized by us, our children, and our grandchildren. Weather permitting, we like to take the puppies outside to play around on the grass or to just explore. We also introduce them to our other dogs around 4 weeks old so they are socialized around other pets as well.
Some of our puppies will be sold on limited registration, which means your puppy will be AKC registered, but AKC will not register any of its offspring and shall be ineligible to be entered in a breed competition (comformation classes) in a licensed or member dog show. It is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility, and Earthdog. Limited Registration is a good option for you if you don't have any intentions of breeding or showing your dog. It also allows you to purchase a great quality dog at a reduced price. Full AKC registration may be offered to approved homes for an additional fee. The cost of a puppy is determined by the pedigree, color, gender, and limited or full AKC registration. Prices will be posted with each individual puppy's picture.
When choosing a puppy, please choose your puppy by name. These names are used for identification purposes only. That way we know we are talking about the same puppy. It makes it so much easier that way. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of a puppy. We do not sell to puppy brokers, puppy mills, or pet stores.
All puppies will come with AKC registration papers, 1-year health guarantee, vaccination and de-worming record, copy of the pedigree, sample bag of puppy food, toy with mother and littermates scent on it, travel crate if being shipped, vet checked, and pre-spoiled. Puppies will have their dew claws removed and tails docked and be current on vaccinations and de-wormings. Each puppy will have baths, nails clipped, and hair trimmed, where needed. Also, please know that we are here for the lifetime of the puppy with any concerns or questions you may have. Please feel free to call us or email us anytime.

Puppy Healthcare
|
Since your puppy's immune system is not fully developed until it has reached the age of twelve weeks and has received its twelve week puppy shot the following precautions must be followed to limit your puppy's exposure:
- Never put your puppy on the floor, ground, furniture, or examination table unless you have personally observed that it has been sanitized and disinfected. Although necessary, the vetrinarian's office is one of the most dangerous places you can take your puppy.
- Never take your puppy to areas where dogs of unknown health may have visited. This would include walks outside of your property, pet stores, and especially dog parks until its immune system has fully developed and it has received its twelve week puppy shot.
- Special note requarding airport property: You maybe tempted to put your puppy down to go potty at the airport. The airport grounds is one of the most dangerous places to subject your puppy to. Thousands of dogs from all over the world, having every known sickness has more than likely used the same grounds.

Purchasing
|
When you have selected the puppy of your choice, please contact me. I will confirm whether the puppy is still available. If it is, I will put a "hold" on the puppy until your deposit arrives. I allow 5 days for the deposit to reach me. I suggest sending the deposit priority mail as it will arrive here within that time. Once the deposit is received, I will mark the puppy "sold". I require a $200.00 deposit to reserve the puppy. All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE (unless there is an injury, illness, or death while the pup is in our care... then of course the refund will be returned or can be put toward another puppy of your choice when one is available).
We accept payment in the forms of postal money orders, cash, and Wal-mart money grams.
Also we require that our puppy application form be filled out and submitted to us before purchasing a puppy. That helps us in assuring that the puppy goes to a wonderful home and is the perfect fit into your family.

Shipping
|
Shipping is available to most major airports in the United States at the buyer's expense. I have started shipping with Continental Airlines since they are climate controlled and I don't have to worry about what the temperatures are like here or where the pup is being shipped to. The cost for shipping a puppy is $300 if we use Continental Airlines. If you prefer another airline, we will consider that. The shipping cost includes an airline-approved crate for the puppy to be shipped in, a vet health certificate, and of course the airline ticket. I will also attach a small bag of food and any necessary paperwork for your new puppy.
The price of the puppy and shipping costs will need to be paid in full by the time the puppy is 7 weeks old so all shipping arrangements can be made. Breeder will not hold a puppy if shipping is not paid in full by the time the puppy is 7 weeks old. After the puppy and shipping is paid in full, I will make all the necessary flight arrangements.
Please be prompt in picking up your puppy from the airport. Also, please call me or email me as soon as you get a chance to let me know that the puppy has arrived safely.
You will need to have two forms of I.D. with you, including a picture ID and an air bill number, which I will provide to you after the flight arrangements have been made.
Also, it is a good idea to bring some water for your new baby. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Supplies Checklist
|
Bringing a new member into your household is a big event for both puppy and you! You’ll want to help your new puppy get settled as quickly as possible, so he can grow accustomed to your family routine. Ideally you’ll want to have purchased these items before the big day, that way you can focus on enjoying your new pup and helping him get settled. Here is a checklist of items that you’ll want to have ready before bringing home your new best friend.
Crate and Divider: Buy the adult size crate, the minimum for a cocker is 24L x 18W x 21H. The benefits of a crate are that the enclosure acts as a cozy den, makes puppies feel safe when family is away, and encourages bladder control since dogs dislike to urinate where they sleep. Plastic crates are standard for travel but can be used daily. Wire dog crates provide better ventilation and viewing. Wicker crates are more attractive but can be chewed. When bringing a puppy home, alternatives to crates are playpens or gated enclosures. Gates prevent puppies from climbing or falling down stairs, until free roam is allowed. Confinement in damp, dark quarters, as basements and garages, leads to housebreaking problems.
Dog Food: I use Iams brand puppy food and will send a sample home with you.
Food and Water Bowls: Stainless steel is a good choice for functionality and value. It’s easy to wash and is generally rust proof, as well as chew resistant. With puppies, it’s a good idea to get a no-tip bowl. It has a wide base at the bottom so curious puppies can’t paw the edge of their bowl to tip it over.
Treats: Training begins at day one, and treats are a great way to coax your puppy into training sessions with enthusiasm. Some treats I recommend are the Old Mother Hubbard treats or the Iams puppy biscuits. The trick is to keep the treats small, so the puppy doesn’t get stuffed in a couple of bites, but just enough to keep him interested in training sessions and eager to learn.
Toys: Keep your puppy out of your things by finding him his own set of toys. Knotted rope bones, Nylabones, Kongs, rubber balls, latex squeak toys, and fake lambs wool plush toys are what I like to use. As with young children, be sure that the toys do not have small, easily detachable parts that the puppy could choke on.
Collar and Leash: An appropriately fitted collar and a lead are necessary when taking your puppy anywhere outside of a secure fenced area.
Puppy ID Tag: You’ll want to put a puppy ID tag on the collar. Even if your puppy doesn’t have a name yet, it’s a good safety measure to get that ID on.
Bitter Apple Spray: Bitter apple spray helps deter chewing.
Nature’s Miracle: Use Nature’s Miracle or another enzyme cleaner to neutralize any urine that gets onto floors or carpets. The enzymes greatly reduce the odor that would draw the pup back to the same place for the same purpose.
Grooming supplies: I use the guillotine style nail trimmer, but other styles can also be used. A soft slicker brush for puppies and a pin style brush for routine brushing help keep your puppy’s coat shiny and can reduce the amount of shedding.
Dog Toothbrush and Toothpaste: I like the kind of toothbrush that fits over my finger.
Ear Cleaner and/or Ear Drying Powder.
Puppy Shampoo: Use only shampoos that are formulated for puppies or dogs, as others can be too harsh.
Pooper Scooper.
After purchasing your puppy items from the checklist, make sure that the bowls have been washed, the crate has been assembled, and everything for your new puppy is in its place. Then when the puppy comes home, you can introduce him to his crate with treats, show him his new toys, and give him a good meal of the food he’s accustomed to. You’re well on your way to getting puppy settled in, and content in his life as your new best friend.
